Carnivale of Curiosities Update

It's slow going, but it's getting there!

A little view for yis into the magick behind the making of a Sancho story.

These are the first 2 pages of a new 7 page story written by Iano and drawn by yours trewly, entitled (at the moment) Saint Patrick's Slay.

It's set in a graveyard somewhere in Ireland and features some of our indigenous little green clad folk, who have been busy eating American tourists.

On the right is some very messy thumbnails (I can read 'em, sort of) for the top two pages and for the rest of the story. I hope to have the story completed by the end of next week, then it's onto Ian's zombie story and one for the bould Pádraid O Mealoid called Mary Bateman's Hen.

Thassit, pals -- 'til next time,

Al.

Welcome! And Current Projects.

Hello and welcome to the 20,000 Leagues blog!

It's great to have ye here, laddie-me-boy! (Or laddie-me-lass.)

This is our first blog, so I suppose I'd better tell you a bit about ourselves and our current projects.

20,000 Leagues is a comics publishing company based in the garden county of Wicklow, Ireland, and is run by Al Nolan (me) and Ian Whelan.

We set it up to publish our comic "Sancho", Iano is the writer, I co-write and draw it. It's up to issue 3 so far and was nominated this year for an Eagle Award (we lost out in our catagory to that little fecker Asterix. Ah well.)

Ian and I are currently working on a new comic "Señor José Maria Garcia's Carnivale of Curiosities", an anthology of stories set in the Sancho universe. It'll feature a cover by Herokiller's Declan Shalvey, a couple of stories by me and Ian, as well as stories from Ed Berridge and Bryan Coyle "Dublin Nightmare" and the Guys from Monkeys With Machineguns "The Rubberneckers" as well as a couple of surprises. It'll be released for Rob Curley's SubCon in Dublin on 29th September.

At the same time I'm working on a comic called "Sancho : The Parliament of the Djinn", which promises to be an 80 page behemoth -- I'm taking my time with this one!

Apart from that, we publish another anthology semi-regularly, "Soft Boiled", which is in magazine format.
